"Detective Comics" is getting a new writer this Fall starting with issue 13 -- none other than John Layman, author of the cult-favorite Image comic "Chew"!
Layman is a somewhat surprising choice for writing duties on "Detective" -- one of these acclaimed writers of somewhat quirky material that fans and critics alike have often cited as the type of talent the Big Two should be going after. And nobody, apparently, is as surprised as Layman:"Obviously, this is a happily surreal and exciting turn-of-events for my career,” Layman told DC's Source blog. “Not only is this my first work within the DC Universe, but I get to work on one of DC’s undisputedly coolest and highest-profile characters."
Joining Layman will be newcomer Jason Fabok, who has contributed to a smattering of recent Bat-related DC projects, including the variant cover for "Batman Incorporated" #3:
Also, judging from the cover, I'm assuming it involves the Penguin.
"Detective Comics" #13 hits stands on October 3rd.
